The inabal (ikat-dyed woven abaca (Musa textilis) cloth) is regarded a symbol of riches, an offering to deities, and a gift to people who perform rites in Bagobo society. When these highly woven fabrics are inherited, they become ikut, or sacred artifacts, and are utilized as protective charms to ensure the construction of dwellings.
